Coming Soon to a Shop near you!

Finally, I'm really gettin' the hang of this Mac!! I spent 3 days working ALL day on it and it's just about done. All the canvas pictures are there; now I'm working on the thread. It's a monumental task editing all these pictures. I don't want to count how many. Years ago, my day job was Master Paper hanger. About 10 years into my wallpapering career one of my clients asked me how many rolls of paper I had hung. I thought about that for the rest of the day, calculating in my head what the answer might be. I finally came up with an estimatae of about 20,000 rolls!! Yikes, that's a lot of wallpaper!! So, suffice it to say, I don't want to count all the tiny pictures, edited, color corrected, straightened, cropped, framed, numbered arranged, etc. It's a "labor of love". I'll keep telling myself that. Looking at the page layout on the computer and the proof sheets, it's going to be a great catalog.
Last week I mentioned the Color Shots. Well, we added 2 more choices to the batch. Christmas and Halloween have 9 colors of Baroque Silk and 1 spool of Glitteratti. Gorgeous!
All is well in Alpaca land. If you want to see the whole gang log on to www.HighMesaAlpacas.com

It's definitely a new year

We were out in the middle of nowhere when I received an email from my website company that our site was live! "OMG" I said. It's almost too good to be true. After all that work and all those fits I threw with anyone that would listen it's finally here. That has to have been the hardest birth on record!
Anyway... You will notice that there are some things missing. I've been going through the site making notes on what pictures to take and which things are missing altogether. Some of the pictures are already on there and more will be taken in the next week or so. Thank you so much for your patience, ya'll have been the best customers. You have stuck with me every time I had to tell you the site was still not working.
Now just when you thought it couldn't get any better....A catalog is coming. Yes, you read right. That's the other thing I've been seriously lagging on. Well, it's also missing some pictures. Oddly enough they are the same ones as the website. I've already printed a rough draft and proofed the catalog. The only thing missing are those pesky pictures. The goal is to have it in print by the April market.  So if you are a shop, your catalog is in the works and should be available very soon. If you are a retail customer, your shop's catalog is in the works and should be available very soon.
We introduced a new product at the January Market. Color Shots. A box of assorted colors in the Empress Elite. Each box represented one of the four elements, Fire, Earth, Air and Water.  They were for Sample it Night as a way to introduce the product to shop owners. The boxes were such a success that we are going to make them a regular part of our inventory. We are thinking of adding some other groups of colors, maybe holiday stuff, just haven't decided yet. There will be 9 skeins per box. Stayed tuned. They will go up on our beautiful new website.

The Website Saga

Let me say for the beginning...If you want to sharpen your brain, learn a new operating system!! I have officially switched to a Mac and it has taken me months to figure out how to use it. Don’t get me wrong here...the Apple people are the best at training and help. Far better than I have ever experienced in the Computer Jungle. I just forget what they’ve taught me almost as soon I’ve learned it!!
So my big idea was that since my web-mistress is in the wind, I would just build my site myself! 9 months later I am still working on it. I am close.
When you read this the website will be up and running. I decided to start this to let you know what I was doing in the days before the site was up and running.
My big plan is to use this forum to keep you informed as to what’s going on in the Dream House Ventures world. Trunk shows trade shows and the like.

REALITY CHECK
This was written last February!! I have really become literate in Mac, but with all that I do from day to day I just couldn't find the time get the site to look as great as I wanted. Finally, in June, (OMG how the time has flown!!!)I signed up with a website company that builds me a template and I input all the data. Again with the learning curve. My last and final goal is to be up and running by January 1st, and, by God, I'm doing it even if all the pictures aren't there yet!!!
Building a new website was a supreme trial, but well worth it. I've learned a lot and learned that I already knew a lot. So from now on this blog should be about current and coming events.
Wish us Luck and Fair Sailing.
All the Best...
